  • I LOVE summer camps for my kids! It gets them outdoors and exercising! This year, we attended Challenger Sports International Soccer Summer Camp again, and we loved it, AGAIN!

Choosing a Summer Camp can be really overwhelming, especially when you have multiple kids that you have to figure out schedules for. For me, a big factor when choosing camps is choosing something that I can drop both kids off at the same place, and at the same time! With Challenger Sports, they offer camps for my 11 year old and my 4 year old. The TinyTykes program, ages 2-5, provides fundamental soccer activities, games, and stories; designed to enhance technical skills along with physical and social development. The Half-Day Camp, ages 5-16, is the most popular program and will provide 3 hours of skill development, games, challenges and competitions each day. The Full-Day Camp, ages 8-18, is a 6 hour program filled with developmental practices, games, competitions and challenges. In addition to Summer Camps, Challenger Sports offers; Elite Training Camp, Tournaments, Goal Keeping Camps, Skills Combines and More.

When we signed up for the International Summer Camp, the kids got a soccer ball and a camp jersey/tech shirt! The shirts were different colors based on their age groups. On the first day of camp, kids are given their jersey and ball, and start things off with an opening ceremony. After, they broke off into their groups and started training. Each day they focused on different skills, putting them all together for the last part of the day, when they started the competition for the World Cup! The age groups were broken up into teams, and the teams were different countries. Throughout the week, they played each other, tournament style until the last day of camp when they had the finals, to see who won the World Cup. To close things out, they had a closing ceremony, celebrating the winning team/country in each age group.

The International Soccer Camp coaches are from all over the world, revolving around five of the world’s leading soccer nations: Brazil, France, Spain, UK and the US, bringing their love of soccer to help inspire our kids. This combination of on and off-field skill development will both engage and entertain our kids and will encourage them to push the boundaries of their talents. The international summer camp coaches stay with local families in your community for the duration of the camp week. Over the year’s this has become one of the most popular elements of Challenger’s camp programs.

I loved hearing about his games each day, and new things he learned. After each day of camp, he would just climb into the car, and soak in the AC, while trying to figure out what he needed to eat because he was so ravenous after a full day of playing soccer! I’m pretty sure my 11 year old even took a nap one day after camp.

This was our second year attending Challenger International Soccer Camp, and I can’t wait to see what next summers camp has to bring! To see if camps are available in your area, and sign up, you can check your zip code here.
